How AI is Slowly Killing the Creative Thinking

How AI is Slowly Killing the Creative Thinking

The day has come finally, a day where creativity must be crowned and a day when a writer realizes the biggest mistake of his/her life. The destruction of creativity must be stopped, and this is the time that has to be done. If I am late, then I am gone, and I cannot call myself a writer.

I have been using the AI tools in content creation, make a note here, I said “In Content Creation”, but not “For Content Creation”.

You might be wondered and ask me what is the big different between the two. Oh! I can explain that the difference is like from an artificial snow world to the original Himalayan snow.

What do I mean by saying the day has finally come?

I am a writer, I have my own style and tone of writing, my goal is to communicate with the reader on the other side of the screen and make him/her either to agree/disagree on my thought process, and this thought process is communicated through the blog posts/my books.

I chose writing as my life in my 6th standard, and from then, I never felt so weird to go and ask my senior and fellow writers on providing me with more information related to the research or take necessary guidance from them.

Those people were seniors, and they have been in the writing field for years be or even a few months more than me.

Now, at this point, since last week, I felt so odd to use one of the best AI content creation tools out there, the ChatGPT.

From the day it was launched in the market, I got my hands on it, I have defended my crime of creating content by just fancy word or covering it by stating that I use ChatGPT just for researching.

But, come on! Who will use a tool that has the capability to drop you at the destination only to drop you a kilometer or two from the destination to walk?

The person doing this might be genuine-hearted, but this will not be rewarded in any form, at the end of the day, he will be calling words by the people like “slow”, “not adaptable” and “outdated”.

Let me tell you one thing crystal clear, the research papers out there, the amount of time that it takes to publicize a research paper, and the energy and investment of time it consumes, all will be considered productive ones because these will give you an experience.

The experience that you can gain from all the work is completely powerful, powerful enough to join in the debates, knowledgeable enough to talk about it in public, with AI-generated content, there is no power in our hands to go for the debates and there might also be traps like misinformation.

My Whole Experience with AI Content

I have spent almost more than 6 months with ChatGPT, it felt more convenient to me in the initial days and then within the first 30 days, I became a premium member of ChatGPT.

The expertise it has as a Large Language Model (LLM) is far better than most of the writers we see in the current market.

What I believe is, there are two types of writers, one is who are passionate about writing and exploring things, they are the writers by life, and they live to write and read, and the other are those who has turned themselves into writers to make a living. Now I cannot judge that to make a living, writing is wrong, because I also write to make a living.

For the name’s sake if it is writing, then it will be too tough for the person to get into the shoes and work on it.

Apart from this, my personal experience with the AI content is quite upsetting.

I have used ChatGPT for various purposes and done the research on this. Let me give you the entire list of what I have used ChatGPT for.

·???????? For summary of Books.

·???????? For Email Ideas and Understanding the complex emails from the organizations.

·???????? For creating the content calendar.

·???????? For getting the blog post titles.

·???????? Write the blog posts with/without keywords.

·???????? Write the technical documentation like Whitepapers/E-books/Case Studies etc.

·???????? For planning the personal things.

·???????? For current affairs.

·???????? To pass online tests without even reading a summary.

·???????? Any many more…

Now when we talk about the quality, it has been compromised many times. The tone, even there are many modulations available for the tone setting, the brand’s tone is missed always.

Why I have Took a Step-back from ChatGPT?

ChatGPT has really assisted me in multiple things. Like I explained above, it has helped me to keep up with the daily tasks and became a best friend of mine.

But that friendship did not last long, the reason is complicated to find out before, but after the thorough research and understanding and deep analysis of the subject, I came to this conclusion.

o?? ChatGPT has an adverse effect on my creativity level, I can sense that I have completely became depended on this without even being aware of it.

o?? It has killed my spirit of research, even though it has provided me with lots of information, few of them were not genuine and created a feeling of “lack of information”.

o?? Many times, when the limit has exceeded, I felt like it is the dead end, any mates, it is more dangerous than the writer’s block.

o?? The complications I have to face was dependency on the tool for the small tasks and even small liners of write-ups.

o?? The last but not the least is the lack of identification. I am an author and I need my style of writing to be reflected in my work rather than a robot’s.

Now where do I stand?

Most of the people says that Google is not an enemy of AI content, what I can say is, it is not a direct enemy for the AI content but an indirect one. Because, any content that is generated using AI will have loads of corrections to do. And as human tendencies change from generation to generation, the nature of hardworking human being has changed, our primates are more hardworking than us. In this article, the size of brain is blamed for this.

Whatever might be the reason, my vote goes to the human creative writers. The reason is simple, we are qualified and quality beings.

A big explanation I can give here is how I became lazy.

I used to spend hours and hours in learning new things, that is why my LinkedIn profile is filled with different certifications, and all of them were the result of a good quality learning experience.

I spent time, and they gave me a certificate, I must spend sometimes weeks and weeks, keep on failing things and then again passing them.

But, in order to gain the knowledge, that is what the price I have to pay, and the price is – time, attention, focus, understanding and answering ability.

Now to test my ability on how fit I was or how expert I was with AI content creation and creating the prompts, I have to cheat myself. The below is the action what I took.

I have signed up with a course related to a complete strange subject, and it was a paid and certified course, the subject is healthcare, it is kind of an off-topic for me. During my childhood, I have topped in biology and other science disciplines, but that is a different story. I wanted to test my ability, and you know what my mates, I have ranked one in the course by passing all the assessments in just 30 minutes. I even got certified in the field (I did not posted this on my LinkedIn as I know this is a cheating and does not add any value to my profile).

I was addicted, guys, it is like a person who is just sitting next to you and invisible to the invigilator in the exam hall and whispering all the answers in detail in your ear. Isn’t it crazy? Isn’t I driving the adrenaline? Yes, it is and that is where I started to down vote for utilizing ChatGPT or any other AI tool to pass the examination.

Instead of using my brain, I have used the tool, instead of using my choices, I have relied on the machine’s. It took my place and it gave me the final fruit which is not even a hard-earned one.

Anything that comes for Free has NO VALUE

It was back in 2018, I started to provide writing services and also started freelancing. There was a client for me, who is a close friend of mine and he wanted me to write brand copies for him. As he is a good friend of mine, I didn’t even spoke about the commercial part, I wanted to do it for FREE. And that line, that word called f-r-e-e has made me and my client to view the task as something labeled with less quality.

Due to the writings, the client (my friend) got some good leads, he even admitted that, but that was not an appreciation or added any value to my profile. And without the idea or concept overview of the subject, the certificate is invalid even if it is valid in the sight of others.

I put no effort, it was a freebie, a few prompts, not even prompts, a few direct questions and I got the proper answer. That is not how education should be done.

What IF???

The education part is really tough, the current generation which is called Generation Alpha and due to the huge access to all sorts of technological advancements, this generation is quite addicted to such automation tools. There are both sides of this, a positive and a negative, most of the time will be saved and on the other hand, limited and biased knowledge is gained.

What if the next generation depends more on a machine than on its own instincts, it will appear like progress, but it is a slow poison.

Final Thoughts

Once again, I would like to make it clear for all that, I am not against the AI evolution, and I am not against the content writers who are using ChatGPT or any other AI tool for content creation. This is just an article that is based on the personal research and my perspective.

As an experienced writer, ChatGPT has almost buried my creativity, and for the young writers, I can foresee what it can do to them.

So, my dear writers, be mindful of using any AI tool, always remember that the person(s) who has trained has a different thought process than yours. If you sit and research and write on your own, then the personal touch will be different.

Remember what writings has moved hearts? Whose writings has motivated and disciplined people in the history of mankind? The true authors who are humans but not the machines.

Happy writing mates!

The need of the hour in a few industries has revolutionised technology for a good cause and ease of the hour. Yet, the human brain is irreplaceable.? The scope of thought is never limited.
