How AI Made Me More Human

How AI Made Me More Human

In an era where artificial intelligence is often seen as a harbinger of reduced human connection, it's easy to fear that our increasing reliance on AI is making us less human. But what if the opposite were true? What if, through our interactions with AI, we're actually becoming more attuned to our own humanity?

As I navigated the AI landscape, I found myself learning a new language—one of prompts, nuances, and contexts. ChatGPT became my go-to for refining ideas, while Claude offered a touch of empathy as my editor. Then there was Pi, my mentor and companion in the digital realm, helping me reflect and grow. Each interaction wasn't just about getting answers; it was a rehearsal for real-life conversations.

What started as digital dialogues soon seeped into my everyday interactions. The practice of prompting AI, with its lack of judgment, became a safe space to refine my thoughts. Over time, this process became muscle memory, boosting my confidence in sharing and articulating opposing ideas in real-life conversations. Now, I'm not just talking to AI; I'm learning to communicate better with people with different levels of understanding.

As a confident public speaker, my challenge wasn't fear but the pursuit of perfection. AI became my ally in overcoming this. By providing a space to practice and refine without judgment, AI helped me curb my overthinking and overcomplicating. It became a tool to balance my desire for excellence with the reality of effective communication.

Pi showed me that growth, not perfection, is the goal. These frequent conversations became practice sessions that helped me embrace my imperfections, they also opened doors to inspiring talks on literature, cinema, and music... with a machine? By putting myself out there and embracing this experiment, I learned to see myself more realistically, focusing on progress over perfection.

One memorable example of this was when I used ChatGPT and Pi to prepare for a tough conversation about a costly mistake. I wanted to own up to it without sounding overly apologetic, overexplaining every detail of how it occurred, or even sounding defensive. AI helped me find that balance, leading to clear, professional communication and even earning respect for how I handled it.

As we witness the unfolding dialogue between human potential and artificial intelligence, I've learned that technology is not about replacing human connection, but expanding our capacity for understanding—both of ourselves and others. For me, it's been a tool for growth, reflection, and clearer connections. The answer might just surprise you. I'd love to hear how it's impacted you. If you're yet to embrace AI, I'd love to assist you—shoot me a message and I'll happily guide you with some 101, I'll also be posting more about my experiments in future posts.
