"Grow or die."
—?Phil Knight, Nike founder
One of my favorite business books is Shoe Dog by Nike founder Phil Knight. It's a riveting memoir about the trials he and his team overcame in the early days, back when the company was just a tiny importer of Japanese sneakers.
Whenever the company faced a difficult decision -- one of expansion versus playing it safe -- Knight's motto to his team was "Grow or Die!"
In other words, either the company was reaching for new products, new customers, new markets -- or it was slowly withering on the vine.
When I read this motto, I thought it was a little harsh. (Is there no in-between?) But then I reflected on the natural world, where everything around us is either growing or dying. Plants. Animals. Stars.
So, too, is your company: It's either growing or dying.
Many marketers now have the job title of "growth marketer," but the truth is that we should all be growth marketers. Every marketing job is about growth.
Today we're unveiling a new demo on how to use our Media Shower platform, specifically for growth marketers -- which is to say, all marketers. Watch it here.
In your business, in your job, in your life, today you have a choice: grow or die. Choose growth.
