How Agile was born?
In present times, Agile is a popular methodology that is widely used in software development where continuous feedback and delivery is a must.
But how did we get here? Let's have a look.
Many years ago, most of the teams were using the waterfall approach. As a result, quite a lot of projects were failing and Developers and Customers were facing many difficulties and challenges.
Therefore, it was high time to speed up the development times and get the product into the hands of end-users.
In the spring of 2000, a group of 17 software developers, including Martin Fowler, Jim Highsmith, Jon Kern, Jeff Sutherland, Ken Schwaber, and Bob Martin met in Oregon to eliminate these issues. They thought it can be done by following the below approaches.
1) Shortening the delay of business benefits of newly developed software for the user.
2) Getting feedback from users quickly to confirm the usefulness of new software and continue to improve on it accordingly.
Less than a year after that Oregon meeting, Again the same group of 17 developers met in Snowbird, Utah.
During this meeting, they wanted to move forward on the solution.
Within three days, the group gave rise to the “Manifesto for Agile Software Development” (known as the Agile Manifesto). Now here is the turning point in the history of Agile and was finally born.
We will go deeper into the Agile Manifesto in my upcoming post.
Until then, share your views on What do you think about AGILE?
