How to add drop shadow in photoshop

How to add drop shadow in photoshop is a tricky question for the beginner designer. As a designer it is also difficult for me to understand how to add drop shadow in the product photos. Then some research and practice I understand how to do it proficiently. In here I will try to explain and show you some tricks how you can do it.

I usually add drop shadow in photoshop 2 ways. In below I explain one of the methods briefly. I will explain the second method later. Please read till the end and comment about it.

First Method: Add layer shadow from function option

At first, create a clipping path or deep etching around the product photos. Then select the path by pressing ctrl+Enter. Then remove the background from the photo by pressing delete. Now click fx at lower right corner of the photoshop layer section. Select drop shadow and create effect.

Now select the effect and press right button of the mouse to open the option of create layer. You can see a new layer and selct it.

Press ctrl+T to select transform and place the shadow as per your requirements. Change the opacity and fill as your need. You can also add gausian blur from the filter option to blur the edges. It is the easiest way how to add drop shadow in Photoshop.
