How to Adapt Product Mindset While Following Agile Methodology?

Agile offers fast-developing software and significant commercial benefits, but it needs everyone to change their habits, including IT and business partners. Agile development has essentially become associated with digitization: top business executives have understood that their organizations can not fully benefit from digital tools and technology unless they have new, more efficient processes in place to manage them.?

Over a decade of successfully running an Agile Software Development Company, I adopted varied steps to make the Agility scale in order. By taking these cautious steps, I adapt Product Mindset. I am sharing out the footprints that helped me reach where we are today. I hope you find them useful.?

6 Steps to Embrace and Adapt Product Mindset With Agility

1.Understand your Users

Understanding your users’ and organization’s behavior is really important for setting up any product mindset with agile methods. It makes it easier to overcome hurdles and avoid being stranded when unexpected circumstances occur.?

If you lack this knowledge, you might be setting in a fixed mentality. With this approach, you will constantly have the fear of failure, and uncertainty in all your attempts. Unknowingly you will tread towards intensive preparation and a fix-and-confirm approach.

Understanding the users is critical because their stories can help you express the value that a product feature may provide and gain a deeper understanding of why people desire a certain feature. It enables the product manager and development team to move their emphasis away from writing about software features and toward discussing them.

2. Define your Vision

A shared understanding of a product vision is the foundation of successful initiatives. Projects that lack a defined product vision risk squandering resources and being subjected to delivery delays and failures. Assuming that everyone on your team has a shared vision for what you’ll develop, one of the most important jobs for moving ahead is breaking that vision down into manageable tasks. That’s how you adapt Product Mindset.?

By shaping the vision, your team will work towards it, thanks to the Agile transformation. It will explain to them why they should build the product now and who will benefit from the output.?

Your team will hence make the product a reality. It should also motivate your stakeholders and executives, allowing you to get their support. Your product vision should be something that your entire company can get behind.

3. Focus on MVP

Promoting the MVP strategy, you will ask your team to build only the features that early adopters (of the product) would need. You are asking them to give adequate customer value. Eventually, proceed by gathering comments from the early users to help you create a better product that will appeal to future users. As a result, I can say it’s critical to concentrate on the bare minimum viable product (MVP).

Purpose of MVP:

  • With few resources, test a product hypothesis
  • Accelerate learning
  • Reduce wasted engineering hours
  • As quickly as possible, get the product to the early adopters
  • Create a foundation for other items
  • Determine a builder’s ability to produce the desired product
  • Create a brand in a short period

4. Seek Feedback

Timely feedback from fellow project team members on their growth and development journey may greatly assist the individual in correcting courses to help reach the project’s objectives while also helping to keep the team atmosphere and culture pleasant and helpful.

Seek Feedback

Continuous feedback may substantially reduce the feedback loop for people in self-organized teams, putting them on the road to continuous progress. It also encourages a healthy climate of transparency and honest criticism among team members, which is essential for an agile team to learn and change fast in order to perform at its best.

5. Keep Evolving Constantly

In today’s economy, cultivating meaningful direct ties with clients is key to success. After you’ve compiled the input from your teammates, combine it with your observations to identify the most important areas for improvement. Don’t attempt to change everything at once; instead, choose one area where you feel you can add the greatest value and brainstorm possible solutions.

6. Measure your Progress

Continuous feedback may substantially reduce the feedback loop for people in self-organized teams, putting them on the road to continuous progress. It also encourages a healthy climate of transparency and honest criticism among team members, which is essential for an agile team to learn and change fast in order to perform at its best. After you’ve compiled the input from your teammates, combine it with your observations to identify the most important areas for improvement. Don’t attempt to change everything at once; instead, choose one area where you feel you can add the greatest value and brainstorm possible solutions. Measure your Progress

Agile has specified methods for assessing progress in order to better understand the development process and make the product delivery process easier. Measure twice as much as you believe you’ll need right now. You’ll never know what you believe you’ll need in the future or what trends you’ll find unless you start tracking what matters right now. Only track the data that is relevant to your business. That means your staff will have to collaborate closely with them to identify which KPIs are appropriate for your company. These measurements should be able to inform you how well you’re accomplishing your objectives.

Buckle Up?

After considering all of the above points, you should not forget to share your victory. It’s just as crucial as the others. All of your team members, management, and other departments should adapt Product Mindset and that is the success of your product.

After you’ve completed all of this, keep in mind that your organization’s and teams’ demands will change over time, so make sure your process does as well. Agility with a Product Mindset is difficult to adopt, but the above steps provided here will ensure that you handle the change wisely.

Very well articulated Chandresh Patel . The combination of Product Mindset and Agile is quite an essential thing in today's era of startups and innovative products. In order to support such product ideas, the development team must be equipped with a proper product mindset, combined with agile methodology - in order to implement and deliver more efficient, robust and scalable software products.
