If you’ve ever spent time learning new words and phrases, only to forget them you are not alone. So, how do you make sure that you are learning new business phrases in a way that you will be able to remember them and use them in the future? Here are four tips to actually learning new business English expressions.
1. Always try to learn new phrases in context (not by themselves). Take your vocabulary and phrases from authentic business materials (such as business articles).
2. Take advantage of ‘chunking’ by learning new expressions with similar expressions, their synonyms and opposites.
3. Don’t forget to use active learning (learning through speaking and writing) as well as passive learning (learning through reading and listening).
4. Review your new expressions. Use the new word or phrase at least 3 times over 3 different days.
