Internships are an excellent way to gain hands-on experience. While navigating the world of PR can come with some challenges, don’t be intimidated. By following the advice below, you will be able to conquer your next internship.?
- Get to know the company. During the first few weeks of your internship, take some time to really ensure you know the company culture. This means understanding their mission, values, goals, and ways to strategically communicate them.
- Learn the brand voice. Another thing you should do during the first few weeks of your internship is research the brand voice. If you are working in an agency setting, you will want to research each company. To do this, you can review their social media captions, blog posts, and even past projects.
- Ask questions. No one expects an intern to know everything. Don’t hesitate to clarify something you are unsure of.
- Know that you are still learning. As you begin your internship, you will learn from many incredible experts in the field but keep in mind that they have years of experience. You are just beginning your journey. Remember to be patient with yourself and learn from them.
- Remember: It’s OK to make mistakes. We are often our worst critics, especially when we are new at something. Rather than dwelling on your failures or getting discouraged, take a step back and reflect on what went wrong; this will help you identify areas where you can improve.
