How Accurate is SEMRUSH's Traffic Analytics Feature?

Before claiming anything here let me just confirm that everything mentioned in this post is completely based on my personal experience.

The TEST

I have analyzed 8-10 different websites we have access to via Google Analytics, for the last 6 months. I looked exclusively at the India Traffic only (generally, but not exclusively the 10 sites selected are primarily India-focused, but some target multiple territories or even worldwide) because SEMrush segments traffic by region.

1. Overview

SEMRUSH Report:

Here is the report showed by SEMRUSH for the month of "May 2022". It shows:

• Monthly Traffic = 362
• Unique Visitors = 362
• Page/ Visits = 9
• Avg. Duration = 01:08:53
• Bounce Rate = 0.00%

Google Analytics Report:

Here's the report by Google Analytics for the month of "May 2022". It shows:

• Monthly Visits = 1355
• Unique Visitors = 1294
• Pages/ Sessions = 1.98
• Avg. Session Duration = 01:49
• Bounce Rate = 63.68%

Conclusion

Tools like SEMRUSH choose not to speculate on traffic, instead of estimating visibility based on ranking position and keyword volume/value (which doesn’t necessarily correlate to traffic). So, I would NOT recommend completely depending on the data provided tools instead do a cross-check with Google Analytics or any other tools before finalizing.
