How To Accomplish Working From Home

How To Accomplish Working From Home

Work/Life balance has always been a strong preference when people are out seeking their next career opportunity. In fact, a lot of organizations are recognizing this and offering the option for employees to work from home.

So, if you've been given this opportunity...this will be a great read for you!

Here are 10 tips to be a top notch employee when your office is your home:

1. Stay on task and accomplish your goals for the day.

2. Get dressed and ready before you start your work day. Trust me, this can be a difficult item to complete, but when you do this...you are more energized and ready to take on those tasks.

3. Stretch out throughout the day. Make a conscious effort to move around. It can be hard to do this when you're sucked into a project. These breaks will help boost your productivity.

4. Surround yourself with the right white noise. You don't want a background noise to distract you and lose track of your progress. Play your favorite "coffeehouse" playlist.

5. Make office hours. Like me, it's easy to be stuck to the computer and continue to work and lose track of time. Before you know realize it is 8PM and you haven't ate anything since lunch. Don't overwork yourself and stick to your office hours.

6. Dedicate a working space in your house. Make it comfortable and separate from the rest of the house.

7. Keep your desk/office space organized! Having a bunch of junk and paperwork all over the place is guaranteed to kill your productivity.

8. Make lists and daily to-do deadlines. This is an efficient way to prioritize and map out the day.

9. Find a "B-plan" office. At some point you will run into issues with your internet or power loss. Make sure you have an alternative workplace with the strongest Wi-Fi and smallest distraction.

10. Maintain a social life. Working from home can get lonely. Make it a goal to meet from friends on your lunch break or go for a quick walk. Anything that gets you away from the computer screen.

I had limousine business for about 8 years and ran it out of the house. Very spot on. And yes there were days I stayed in comphy clothes. But I sounded like I was wearing a suit.

I agree! I think that it's healthy to take 15 minute breaks like you would in an office setting too. It helps to walk away from the computer and unplug even if it's only for a few minutes.
