Public healthcare in Romania
According to FRD Center, there are numerous opportunities for the foreign suppliers of medtech, health equipment and medical devices to get in contact with the local Buyers and Importers in the Romanian medical sector.
The project "Expanding, modernizing and increasing the diagnostic capacity through high-quality imaging of the County Emergency Hospital Mavromati in Botosani" was approved and included in October 2024 in the National Program for Investments in the Infrastructure of Hospital Units. The project has a total value of 150 mEUR, including VAT.
The University Emergency Hospital Bucharest resumed in October 2024 the tender for the design and execution works of its extension project. The expansion involves the construction of two new buildings on an area of approximately 9,200 sqm. The project has an estimated value of around 73 mEUR, without VAT, and an implementation period of 33 months.
The construction works at the new Infectious Diseases and Pneumology Hospital in Oradea started in September 2024. The hospital will be built on an area of 2.7 hectares, following an investment of 135 mEUR, including VAT. The investment is mostly financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
In September 2024, the Ministry of Health issued the first approvals of opportunity in order to implement the investment projects within the National Program for Investments in the Infrastructure of Hospital Units, carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Investments and European Projects. The total value of the approved projects is around 400 mEUR and some of the beneficiaries are the Galati County Emergency Hospital, Craiova Municipal Hospital, Drobeta Turnu Severin County Emergency Hospital and Grigore Alexandescu Children's Emergency Clinical Hospital in Bucharest. The program has a total budget of 2.6 bn EUR and the implementation period is 2024 - 2030.
The construction works at the new Emergency Hospital “Prof. Dr. Dimitrie Gerota” in Bucharest started in September 2024. The total investment is estimated at 250 mEUR. The project is financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
