How A1 Roofing Started
Vincent Malizia
Chief Culture Officer | Owner | Cultivating Positive Workplaces | Building Lasting Connections at A1 Roofing
The History of A1 Roofing
The Year was 1981!? John and Nancy Malizia decided to take a chance on their dream and start A1 Roofing and Siding.? It was the same year that Ronald Regan was shot, Pope John Paul II was shot, the Aids epidemic was officially recognized, and Bob Marley passed away with melanoma.? There was clearly a lot of uncertainty during this time, however that didn’t stop them from pursuing their passion.
John and Nancy built A1 Roofing by keeping true to their word and doing the right thing for their clients and employees.? All it took was a handshake!? Fast forward 43 years later, and that same message holds true with A1 Roofing.? Now, 2nd generation owners, Vincent and John have taken that same approach to help them scale the business. They service the Long Island region as well as the entire tri-state area, specializing in building relationships with their employees and clients.
?“This is bigger then putting roof systems on for our clients.? Although, we love what we do, the big reason we do what we do each and every day, is to help our community and those in need.? Our Vision is to make an impact on the world. So many people are struggling, or going through difficult times. If we can help put a smile on their face, we did our job!” - Vincent Malizia
?
John and Vincent have elevated A1 Roofing by servicing the commercial market in the tri-state area, including Connecticut and New Jersey.? "There is no place we won’t go for our clients. We have created a relationship with our clients that goes beyond business,” says John Malizia.
John and Vincent have leaned on the following core values to help build their organization to the next level:
Client Experience - Making a Positive Impact.
Integrity - Never a right time to do the wrong thing, and never the wrong time to do the right thing.
Innovation - Thriving on change and becoming the best version of ourselves.

Safety - Built into every facet of our organization.
Trust - Built in drops, lost in buckets.

Building Tip:
Many commercial buildings typically have a lot of foot traffic from other trades: plumbers, electricians, HVAC techs, etc.? Walkway pads can help keep your roof in pristine condition and can help avoid damage to the existing surface.? Walkway pads can be installed at any time for a reasonable cost.?
Book Recommendation:
The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan
Family Tip:
Referring to the book, The Gap and The Gain, author Dan Sullivan discusses how many times throughout the day we find ourselves in the GAP.? What he means: we are down, depressed, angry, etc.? Start looking at the GAIN, which Dan refers to as “The Wins”.? Focus on keeping your mindset positive and in the GAIN. This will help with relationships around the house and the office.
