National Nachos Day – November 6, 2020
DETAILS: November 6 is National Nachos Day! On this day we celebrate everyone’s favorite snack no matter how you make it. Chicken or beef? Beans or salsa? Cheddar or that yellow stuff they top chips with at football games? There’s no one specific way to make it as long as it has two main ingredients: Chips and as much cheese as you can pile on!
NATIONAL NACHOS DAY ACTIVITIES:
Have a nacho competition: They have chili cookoffs, barbecue competitions, and even bake-offs, so why not an annual nacho competition? Well, you’ll be happy to know that at the Port Jefferson Station in New York, they actually do hold an annual Nacho Fest, but you don’t have to go there to experience it! What with the many ways you can serve up this crunchy culinary masterpiece, invite some of your most talented tortilla artists over to bring their best recipe to the table.
Perfect the chip-to-cheese ratio: One flaw many people note about nachos is that you can only cover so many tortilla chips with cheese. Eventually, you’re left with the bottom chips, which might as well have been left in the bag where you found them. This doesn’t have to be the case! Next time, place those chips on a cookie sheet and space them apart. Cover each chip with cheese and bake. Plate the chips and top with your favorite extras. You’ll guarantee those bottom chips get all the cheesy love they deserve.

National Team Manager Day – November 6, 2020
DETAILS: National Team Manager Day takes place every year on November 6 and celebrates the unsung heroes and the glue that holds every team together: team managers. Regardless of their sport, league, or size, team managers are often overlooked and undervalued, but today we recognize the countless hours they spend making sure their team’s whole season runs smoothly and successfully, and all the work they put in acting as the liaison between coaches, parents, and players.
NATIONAL TEAM MANAGER DAY ACTIVITIES:
Thank a team manager!: National team manager day is a great time to stop and thank a team's manager for all the help and hard work they dedicate to the club and making sure the season runs smoothly - whether it's a year-long sport or just an off-season club.
Volunteer to pitch in!: Team managers take on so much. They might appreciate having a helping hand. Maybe you could organize the next team social or figure out where the team should grab a bite after the next tournament game.
Join a team!: If you're not already on a team, join one! Team managers need to fill rosters so the team always has enough personnel to not have to worry about forfeitures. By joining a team, you not only put yourself in a position to get in great shape and grow as a person, but also help out team managers by filling in empty spots.

National Bison Day – November 7, 2020
DETAILS: You see them everywhere — on coins, on sports team logos, and a couple of state flags. No, we’re not talking about the bald eagle. This honor is reserved for North American bison. On National Bison Day, November 7, an annual event that falls on the first Saturday in November, all Americans should reflect on the impact bison have as a part of our environmental and cultural heritage. Bison are especially revered by Native people — central to their survival as both food and spiritual inspiration.

National Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day – November 7, 2020
DETAILS: National Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day is an opportunity to celebrate the sumptuous combination of chocolate and almonds. Nearly 40 percent of all the world’s almonds end up in some form of chocolate, most often a candy bar. The pairing is one of the oldest known recipes using chocolate. While National Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day, held on November 7, is sponsored by the National Confectioners Association, it’s primarily an online celebration involving dark chocolate and almond lovers.
NATIONAL BITTERSWEET CHOCOLATE WITH ALMONDS DAY ACTIVITIES:
Dip it at home: Buy a nice big bar of dark chocolate along with a jar of almonds to make your own dipped almonds at home. You might add a teaspoon or two of cornstarch to thicken the chocolate sauce. Sprinkle them with some sea salt to add extra flavor.
Buy a dark chocolate and almond candy bar: You have plenty to choose from! You've got Hershey's Special Dark with Almonds, or a Mounds bar, which includes shaved coconut (Mounds' sister bar, Almond Joy, features milk chocolate), or the Dove Silky Smooth Promises Dark Chocolate & Almond.

STEM/STEAM Day – November 8, 2020
DETAILS: STEM/STEAM Day falls on November 8. There’s no way around it: children are significantly better off with strong science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics skills. That’s why STEM and STEAM education programs are so important. It’s undebatable that these subjects push society forward, and these programs help to find fun and engaging ways to teach them to students, which is all worth commemorating. So, on November 8, we celebrate STEAM/STEAM Day!
STEM/STEAM DAY ACTIVITIES:
Find out which hobbies of yours are rooted in STEM subjects: Whether it's astronomy, computer gaming, woodworking, photography, or sudoku, chances are that many of your favorite activities have roots in STEAM subjects.
Brush up on your own STEM related skills: If there's one thing that's great about living in today's day and age, it's our access to information. There are hundreds of courses online that could help you brush up on your STEAM skills, many of which are offered free of charge from the world's best institutions, like MIT and Harvard.
Donate to your local STEM programs: Teachers everywhere struggle to stock their classrooms with all the materials they need to teach their classrooms, but you can help. If your child has "outgrown" some of their old supplies — whether that be an old calculator, a set of art supplies, or a retired protractor — a local school could probably make good use of it.
