Houston Texans: Cool Dope Sh*t

Houston Texans: Cool Dope Sh*t

Cool Dope Shit.?

What’s not cool about doing “cool dope shit”?

Find me a single problem-slaying employee that wouldn’t want to sign up for that.?

A few weeks back, I got to zip down to Houston to work with 150 leaders from the Houston Texans front office.?

In preparation of that meeting, I had multiple conversations with SVP of the Texans Doug Vosik alongside a few of his direct reports. It was here where I first learned of “CDS” which, as you’ve now gathered, stands for “Cool Dope Shit.”

In the spirit of context, I learned that Doug had set three acronyms in motion for their team:

CDS = Cool Dope Shit

FTW = For The Win?

PMA = Positive Mental Attitude

Now, I love everything about these acronyms.?

Find me a person that wouldn’t want to do “cool dope shit”?

Find me an individual that doesn’t want to play for the win?

Find me a soul that doesn’t benefit from bringing a positive mental attitude?

What was cool and dope about this engagement was that the Houston Texans are in serious preparation mode, elevating their game for the future. Often courage isn’t about fixing or fighting something; it’s about having that next conversation as a unit so they can take a colossal leap together.?

Just like the Houston Texans coach, DeMeco Ryans has an identity for the team on the field, I wondered to Doug if he’d be open to having his team work together to co-create their identify as a front office. It’s a trusting exercise that the team worked on as a unit in the room.?

And, in the spirit of “Cool Dope Shit”, we suggested to Doug to operationalize all three acronyms by turning each into recognition in the form of awards. ?

Who wouldn’t want to walk away with “The CDS Award”, “The FTW Award” or “The PMA Award”.

Leaders…set the tone.

Give your team what it needs to get you over that goal line.?

All of it? It’s all cool dope shit.?
