Houston frac sand conference talk on 9/29/17 to include laboratory data for Texas and Northern White sands

Dr. Brent Elliot (Texas Bureau of Economic Geology) and I are looking forward to our talk at the 6th Annual Frac Sand Supply & Logistics conference in Houston, TX (Sept. 28-29, 2017, sponsored by Petroleum Connection).  I will be talking about sand quality and mining/transportation trends in the Northern White sand industry of the Midwest. Dr. Elliot will be discussing the geology of Texas sands, as well as some lab testing his group has performed on Texas sands (including crush strength tests). To this point most data from the Permian Basin has been self-reported by companies, so his results will be very interesting. Our talk is on the second day of the conference (10:45-11:15 on Friday), so don’t leave the conference early! I will be sticking around after my talk in case people have questions. The conference has many sessions about the Permian Basin (see agenda at https://www.petroleumconnection.com/conferences/sand2017/agenda).

Dr. Kent M. Syverson (P.G.) is a professor of geology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He has been a frac sand expert in the State of Wisconsin for more than eight years. As part of Syverson GeoConsulting LLC, Kent has prospected for frac sand, provided expert testimony at sand permit hearings, collected frac sand intelligence for companies, and conducted third-party reviews for companies seeking to acquire existing sand mines. Kent has attended many frac sand conferences in Wisconsin and Texas and is knowledgeable about the properties of Texas brown sands and Texas last-mile logistics.
