Houston Darden Achieves Three Million Safe Driving Miles

Houston Darden recently reached a milestone only the best of the best accomplishes -- Three Million Safe Driving Miles. If you've ever driven in fast heavy traffic, you know how stressful it can be. Maybe there's construction, detours, heavy rains or high winds. You play offense as well as defensive when driving. Now imagine negotiating those conditions every day while hauling a 60,000+ pound trailer filled with industrial gas. That's exactly what Houston does day after day. And, after 42 years of driving, he achieved this outstanding milestone.

Houston plays an essential role in supplying liquid hydrogen, carbon dioxide and liquid nitrogen from our New Orleans terminal to customers in industries such as chemical processing, electronics, glass manufacturing, food processing and hydrogen energy.

New Orleans site manager, Jeff Gamber reflects, "I have known Houston for 25 years. He shares our Company's philosophy and, like his colleagues, always puts safety first. Houston is the example of perfection in his craft. And, he practices what he teaches. It is an honor to be part of a group that believes in the team atmosphere and puts safety first in every part of their day."

What's Houston's driving philosophy that helped him achieve this great accomplishment? "Start each day like it's new. I do not allow myself to become complacent," explains Houston. "In 42 years of driving, I still run into situations that I have not seen. I continue to learn new things every day."
