What We've Been Up To

Celebrating the Affordable Homes Act with CHAPA

Housing Families’ Policy and Advocacy team joined CHAPA to celebrate the passage of the historic Affordable Homes Act (AHA) and the launch of the Our Massachusetts: Homes for a Thriving Commonwealth campaign. This groundbreaking campaign will play a key role in shaping the implementation of the AHA legislation, which authorizes $5.16 billion in spending over the next five years along with nearly 50 policy initiatives to counter rising housing costs caused by high demand and limited supply.?

At Housing Families, we witness the critical need for affordable housing every day, having served nearly 5,800 clients last year. We're proud to partner with Citizens' Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) and other housing champions on this important initiative. If affordable housing is important to you, follow Housing Families for ongoing updates on efforts we’re engaged in?and join the Massachusetts coalition to advocate with us. Idle Hands Thank You

A huge thank you to Idle Hands Craft Ales for raising an incredible $3,097 for Housing Families through the Celebrity Dunk Tank at their fantastic Annual Oktoberfest event! Attendees had a blast dunking their favorite local celebrities, with all proceeds supporting our vital work in the local communities to ensure housing stability for all. Thank you to everyone who braved the tank!?

Boston Rescue Mission

We were so grateful to receive an enormous donation of winter clothing items from Boston Rescue Mission, delivered by long-time Housing Families volunteer Elizabeth Keeley. These items will be crucial for our Street Outreach Supportive Services & Emergency Shelter Programs during the cold weather months. Thank you Elizabeth & Boston Rescue Mission!?

OceanFirst CommUnity First Day

The OceanFirst Foundation once again chose Housing Families for their CommUNITY First Annual Volunteer Day! They spent the afternoon at our Community Resource Hub tackling yard cleanup, moving delivery boxes, and organizing the donations. They did an amazing job making it easier to quickly assess the inventory and get these essential items to our clients. We greatly appreciate the partnership of our Board Member Brian Slater and his team at OceanFirst! We can't wait to host them again next year!?
