The House Taking Care of Those Who Take Care

How does a business keep on increasing the value it brings? By placing itself in the future, thinking big and taking action today.

This is what Manuela Gil de Tober and Nils Tober and their team at Vivaldi have done.?

They had a notion that there were bigger things to come and wanted to learn how immersive technologies could help them achieve that. They joined Your Global Village and now have their own custom-designed virtual place of business that reflects who they are, and where they’re going.

Vivaldi is a family business based in Medellin, Colombia. The company has evolved from where it originally started - as providers of maintenance on biomedical equipment - to now having a more expansive vision.?

??They’re currently a supplier of medical equipment in Latin America, aiming to steadily expand their reach.

??They’re also developing a new niche area, that of being an enabler for medical professionals to move them away from the clutches of administrative work so that they can return to a place of delivering the best care possible, while being at their best.?

Vivaldi believes that this is the most effective way in which we can return the patient to being at the centre of the health care system. This is their ambitious goal.

The name of the company, Vivaldi, was chosen with?great care, using music as an analogy for what they do.

The Italian Baroque composer, Antonio Vivaldi, brought exceptional music to the world.?

? Music is an art. To perform this art you need a group of musicians to work as a team. Medicine is art as much as science, and you also need a team to execute it for the best results.?

? Antonio Vivaldi is best known for his violin concerto, The Four Seasons, as a musical description of the deep emotion that the seasonal transformation of nature stirred in him. It captures the most beautiful scenes of the 4 seasons, reflecting Vivaldi's intense love of life. And that is the same for this company. They have an intense love of life and do everything it can to preserve it.

? Vivaldi, the composer, was also considered an innovator, challenging the status quo of his time when it comes to music. As a result he influenced many composers who came after him. The same for the company Vivaldi: they are innovators looking for better ways to provide services that preserve life and they too are laying the groundwork for others to follow.?

? Perhaps most important to know about Vivaldi, the composer, is that he understood the effect that music has on living beings. That's why he deliberately composed music that had an positive effect on people's emotional and mental state. He composed music to create harmony and well-being, music that would cause betterment in the world around him. That was his goal. Vivaldi, the company, also focus on creating harmony in how they work, because they know that leads to excellence and well-being. They too create betterment in the world around them as they work tirelessly to help the people who save lives.?

"Vivaldi" is a very apt name for this company:

??Vivaldi the composer was about preserving and enhancing life through music.?

??Vivaldi the company is about preserving and enhancing life by simplifying the process of caring for life.?

Life is at the centre of it. That's why it was also the starting point of the interior design of their new Merchant House (their virtual office) in Your Global Village , a global virtual business community for future-focussed entrepreneurs.

?This is what you'll see as you enter the front door.

A birds eye view shows the two intertwined seating circles that are taking up the centre space. Together they make up a stylized infinity symbol.?

Vivaldi, the company, wants to preserve life and create longevity. The infinity symbol represents that.?

It also represents the two focus areas of the company.?

1?? First, they provide medical equipment and easy to use add-on tech enablers that simplify essential administrative tasks and greatly reduce the time medical professionals require. That is the circular area on the left.

This is what it looks like inside this seating circle.

?One can imagine them welcoming prospective clients here, taking a seat and talking them through the options by scrolling through an interactive presentation on the monitors that are embedded into the coffee table.?

2?? Second, they focus on the well-being of healthcare workers who use this equipment, supporting them to bring their best to the profession and to do so without personal sacrifice. That is the? seating circle to the right.

It has a similar layout but here we've added food (see the bowl of fruit bottom left) as a subtle confirmation that this area is about nourishing the HUMAN behind the tech that we introduced on the other side. Here too they can have have a seat, showing the programs and options that will enhance the well-being of the visitor’s teams.

As mentioned before, life is at the centre of this design.?

Life starts with fresh water. That is why a series of bubbling glass- enclosed waterfalls form part of the seating circle, pouring life energy into the space.

Something else that spells "life" are? living plants. That’s why the circle enclosures are partly living walls that embrace the visitor with life energy.?

?Wood is everywhere in this design. Wood connects the brand to Colombia, their home. The country is very lush and is considered the second most bio-diverse country in the world.

But wood is also organic, it's living, it's renewable. And it provides structure. All of that is part of the brand story of Vivaldi.?

What gives the company strength and structure are its values.? These have been etched into wooden panels that have been designed as stylized trees in a forest. You'll see one on the wall ahead. The 4 inward looking trees show the company values: Impact, Excellence, Being Careful and Simplification. The 4 outer trees, like the one on your right, show the areas these values apply to.

The large picture window at the back of the room represents a connection to the outside world. Vivaldi isn’t isolating themselves. They see what's happening around them and take action based on that. This is where their humanitarian aid efforts come in.

Looking at the room from the other side, you'll see that in the centre of room is a circular staircase.

?The staircase structure reminds one of the DNA helix, which gives life. But it is also a fluid upward line that floats up, just like the silk ribbon in their logo that represents simplicity and harmony.?

That upward motion is actually core to Vivaldi because they have a saying in the company: "Fly to take care of life." And to fly, you need to go up.?

?Warm wood fills the space. But the staircase, in contrast, is metal, just like medical equipment that saves lives. Metal means innovation and being cutting edge, but it is also about simplicity.

Downstairs is for guests and clients. Upstairs is for the team.?

The circular staircase that takes the team upstairs, is in the middle of the infinity circles, anchoring them between the two focus areas of medical equipment and human well-being.? It is a powerful daily reminder of their mission, surrounded by the company values.?

The stairs are fronted by a wooden panel styled as a welcome tree.?

This is the first thing that a visitor will see as they enter through the doors. The tree showcases the Vivaldi product suite.? Each monitor turns into an explainer video for visitors to turn on and? learn more about the product.

The symbolism is that behind these products is a strong team, as represented by the staircase that leads to the loft where they work.?

?Why do we have a loft area? Why not just have desks down here??

Because Vivaldi is about going above and beyond to care for life.

? The loft is the "above" and the window is the "beyond", and it is here that the team takes care of those who take care of life.

?The window above is an extension of the window below (for guests), reflecting Vivaldi’s belief that they need to see the same thing as what their clients are seeing.

?This is the Team Headquarters where they work and meet. And in doing their work, they're guided by the Vivaldi compass, which has been etched into the window.

?"Fly to take care of life” is written in the center of the compass.

North points to the word “Impact”, east to “Excellence” ,west to “Simplify” and south, “Taking care and being careful”. This compass guides the team in everything that they do, connecting with it every day.

?This is the brand story of Vivaldi, a company with heart and ambition.

?As a side note, the soundtrack of their Merchant House walkthrough above is also bespoke, composed specifically for the company. The trombone is being played by Nils Tober , the co-owner and CMO of Vivaldi.
