House of Science impact report released
House of Science NZ
Our vision: Every child in New Zealand is scientifically literate.
We're thrilled to share the findings from a recent case study conducted by Food and Fibre Centre of Vocational Excellence about the impact of House of Science Resource Kits. The research was undertaken by Dr Lesley Petersen and assessed the impact the House of Science Resource kits have on students and teachers.
The report showcases three groups of users: year 5-6 students currently using the kits, year 11 students who used the kits while in primary school, and primary school teachers. The findings show the power of the hands-on nature of the science kits to generate interest and engagement among the students and the transformational impact on teachers.
Fiona Windle, Portfolio Manager at Food and Fibre CoVE said: "The HoS resource kits have proven to be more than just educational tools; they are catalysts for change, aligning well with the academic literature's emphasis on the importance of high-quality science education, the building of science capital, and the preparation for future challenges. They have the power to ignite curiosity, build confidence, and shape the future scientists of New Zealand."
