Hiring for IT is difficult, but tech leaders often put their organizations at a disadvantage when seeking solid talent. "Many CIOs continue to require college degrees, multiple certifications, and numerous years of experience," says Keatron Evans, VP of portfolio and product strategy, at our brand Infosec, "CIOs should start hiring more based on skills.” Learn how to avoid these hiring mistakes in this CIO Online piece: https://lnkd.in/gVFewaqx #Hiring #IT #Skills

Our Institutional team hosted Cengage’s fourth Limitless Learning Summit (LLS) last week in Newport, Rhode Island. The LLS is an opportunity to collaborate with educators, institutional decision-makers and thought leaders to elevate topics that are driving institutional strategy and nurture conversations about how to take these ideas back to each school. ? Keynote speaker Dr. Jeff Borden, Dean of Gonzaga University led the group through a workshop on academic innovation. ? Lee Lambert, Chancellor of Foothill-De Anza Community College District gave attendees new insights on Artificial Intelligence’s evolving role in higher education. ? Emily Ravenscroft-Stuckenbruck, Ryan Tipton and Margaret McMenamin gave master classes on topics important to higher education leaders. ? Carlo Salerno from The Burning Glass Institute gave administrators tools they can use to access and analyze the data they need to make informed, data-driven decisions for their organizations. Special thanks to all of our master class presenters, and to the fantastic group of attendees who helped make LLS a resounding success. One attendee said, “It was a transformative experience and the leadership development opportunity I have been seeking. The conference was informative and inspiring, and I learned so much from the various sessions and speakers. The networking opportunities provided were invaluable, and I was able to connect with like-minded individuals who share my passion for continuous learning and growth. I am grateful for the chance to attend such a prestigious event.” #edtech #continuouslearning #professionaldevelopment

Last week, our Research team released the 2024 Faces of Faculty report which revealed that 82% of educators remain satisfied in their roles despite combating issues around plagiarism and cheating as AI enters the classroom. Discover key takeaways from Edwin Robles, SVP and General Manager of US Higher Ed and Canada, in the post below and read the press release here: https://lnkd.in/e2Q8F7W6 #highered #edtech #genAI
It’s that time of year again when we get to hear directly from faculty, boots-on-the-ground feedback from faculty on their biggest barriers & successes. Enter, the third annual Cengage Higher Education Faces of Faculty report. 1,355 faculty holding various positions at nearly 600 institutions across North America shared what it’s like to teach in higher education today. Unsurprisingly, generative AI has drastically changed the way faculty teach and the way students learn. But, while optimism about AI is on the rise, many faculty are struggling to fully embrace it without clear administrative guidelines in place. Another finding that caught my eye: faculty are burnt out on email support from their institutions but are lacking in support in other formats like financial reimbursement, tech solutions and committees. Providing the right resources isn’t merely enough. It’s providing them at the right time in the right way. But I won’t spoil the rest! Here’s the full white paper, it’s a great read: https://bit.ly/3Zzpaep

Many Americans are ready to tear the "paper ceiling," an invisible barrier filtering out qualified job applicants solely based on their degree. While obtaining a degree still holds value, it's time employers embrace additional learning paths, such as certifications, apprenticeships, and technical training. Our CEO Michael Hansen shared his thoughts on how to remove the degree stigma and foster changes in employers' hiring practices in this Fortune piece: https://lnkd.in/eqcuPFgM #HigherEd #SkillsBasedEducation #Employment

Earlier this month, members of our National Geographic Learning ELT team successfully hosted two explorer events in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The events, themed "Action for Change: The Power of Inner Drive," featured a captivating presentation by National Geographic Explorer, Rubén Salgado Escudero. He emphasized the significance of mastering English as a means to unlock opportunities for global communication and connectivity. Through his own experiences, Rubén showcased how English proficiency enabled him to engage with diverse cultures and showcase his work on an international platform. The presentation not only sparked passion and motivation among the attending students but also emphasized the pivotal role of English as a powerful tool for making a global impact. We are thrilled to share that the events were a great success as they attracted about 400 students from various universities across Vietnam. Check out photos below! #ELT #NGL #globaleducation
