Two Key ?? Factors In #leadership ability to “train up” or develop UX & Product Development skills from within the company (instead of looking for external’s expertise)
1) candidates aptitude for problem Solving
2) candidates keen interest in doing User Centered Design in a Product Enhancements / New Product Innovation context
This is what defines a good UX Designer ???????
Customer-facing, Artistic Vision, Engineering Capabilities all important skills that are Trainable and secondary to the “innate & child-like joy” that a good UX Designer feels when taking things apart, breaking them down and putting them back together again better than they were before. You can’t teach that. #designthinking
In the past six months I worked on Four Applications for PricewaterhouseCooper’s internal Use. These were data intensive dashboard data visualizations for Financial Services. The Dashboard applications were designed by me (with inputs from the business partners) for the exclusive Use of PwC’s executive C-level business partners in the areas of Auditing, Assurance & Independence Assessments. One more app was a virtual notebook for Human Resources to keep tracking records on potential candidates for partnership in the firm (demographics, interview questions, security & personal Information, parent post-interview notes on candidate viability, match for business case, compensation and predicted $$ growth info, etc.
All four of these apps were designed with a mobile first touch friendly approach intended to be optimized for iPad Retina Display, so technically iOS but with open source code widgets from AppKit 2.1 for Android and an overall “Material Design” look and feel -so basically a custom hybrid of IOS and React.js in an Angular Framework (that was evolved from the original concept prototypes created with bootstrap widgets in node.js framework. developed from a custom ‘design system’ that me and 2 other UX Architecture team members were responsible for developing & evolving over time. This Design library was made up of UI Controls within a consistent “Material Design” look and feel derived from official PwC font & color palette in conjunction with accent colors and custom functional UI control widgets that we developed internally for navigation bar, left hand navigation, scroll / combo select box, on off sliders, minimalist form field / data entry field design and High Contrast left navigation area buttons (primarily with no horizontal nav except on on screen with “record finder” sort of main menu area Like larger with Helvetic Neue text on a black or navy blue background WCAG 2.1 compliance for improved legibility and ‘fat-finger proof” touch screen design
So what is meant by a hybrid approach blending iOS progressive disclosure of Information / Apple Interactions design style with (google-android) Material Design components and "Design System" built on react.js with AppKit 2.1 open source responsive UI Control widgets as baseline for You Company's own "Internally Developed" design library - UI toolkit or design-system 'sandbox' ?
Out of the three dashboard apps all were done with AppKit 2.1, Angular 4, HTML5, CSS plus UI-Presentation layer or CMS platform varied from one app to the other 1) Microstrategy 2) Tableau 3) Sales Force Lightning and the e-Binder for HR partner Direct admits was basically just homegrown JavaScript with open soucre element for a responsive table for the spread sheet like data, each line item in the table was clickable and brought up a smaller table of deeper drill down financial / statistical number crunching, there were integrations with 8 “System of Record” source Legacy DB’s of customer financial info as well as outside integration with “Factiva” news aggregator data

Here’s a mock-up of it fto give you an idea, but the important data was removed and replaced with UX Process WBS in place of candidate info or Ind. Assessment data
