Here is my newest video.
In Houdini Grid Setup, I talk about how I set up my grid SOP so it is more intuitive and overall easier to work with.
I have found myself often frustrated at how frequently I repeatedly make the changes whenever I drop in a Grid SOP into my project.
Usually, the dimensions of the grid has to change. Then comes the number of rows and columns, they have to change to achieve a certain density/resolution to the grid mesh. Usually, I'll have to further change the dimensions. When I do that, chances are the number of rows and columns also has to change again! This happens because the number of grid lines do not stay at the same density with reference to the dimensions of the grid.
Over time I came up with a setup that can let will allow me to specify a density that controls how many rows and columns my grid should have. My setup is able to make this stay consistent regardless of the width and height.
I have shared this set up as .hip file in Art Station.
