All of us who consider travelling and visiting hotels as a professional occupation are facing the same question over and over again: “How many hotels have you visited thus far? Certainly, the number must be pretty impressive...”

After many fruitless attempts of trying to produce a viable number in the form of a short answer, I came to an interesting conclusion that I was very lucky to visit a lot of “Hotels” and also quite a few fine establishments that could be categorized merely as “hotels”. So, what is the difference, you may ask...

A hotel: a larger building with rooms (bedrooms) that offers overnight accommodation, food and shelter. It can also have a restaurant where you can satisfy your hunger, meeting rooms for events and catering. There you will meet the staff, who will send you an offer and, at the end of an event, an invoice for the services rendered. The number of these hotels I visited? Completely irrelevant, because I will not visit them again, and their names do not occupy my memory cells for any longer than the duration of the stay.

The Hotel: a place of pleasant memories that you hope to visit again soon - even if only to re-experience the charming atmosphere of the lobby with a warm cup of coffee-in-hand or to receive a friendly smile when stumbling on your way to the first conference of the day. The Hotel is a home away from home. The Hotel is the perfect dream bed. The Hotel is the bathroom that you simply must have at home. The Hotel is food that caresses you. The Hotel is an event where you realize that you have the best job in the world. The number of Hotels I visited? Not enough! Excited to discover more!

The Hotel is all about the people. The Hotel consists of people who live and breathe their profession. People who surprise you with their energy, their knowledge and their empathy. People who mean what they say. People who tend to your needs - sometimes even before you’re aware of them yourself. People who love Hotels.
