The Hotel Workforce is Essential

An alarm goes off at 5:30 … although they usually snooze for at least 15 more minutes … shower, shave and 3 poached eggs, half a can of baked beans and 4 slices of wholemeal toast are eaten, so that they make it confidently through the day and complete their tasks. Some medication is taken every morning.
Smart suit is put on. Clip-on tie – never want to get strangled. Walk to the Hotel listening to music … 06.15 … has a security check as they enter the back of the Hotel.
Like most days … today their really important time would be spent with people; delivering operations and services, focusing on quality improvement and looking after human-beings. Hotel Guests, Hotel Administrators, Hotel Workers, Hotel Managers and other Hotel Stakeholders.
During the day, they constantly strive to deliver the best possible care for their guests and stakeholders. They need to be Intuitive, Inspirational and Creative even at the end of their Double Shift.
There was always a lot of change happening in the Hotel and one of their biggest challenges was trying to support their teams through any transitional time and help them balance conflicting priorities.
How can we possibly get the most out of our Hotel Teams and keep them motivated? Always try to be fair, open and authentic and strive to support teams to deliver work and ultimately improve the lives of everybody … this seems to work.
Always try to communicate honestly and regularly with Hotel Teams to ensure that they feel involved with what is happening in the Hotel. Communications always should be a two-way process – always listen.
Open team meetings where everyone has an opportunity to celebrate success, raise concerns and talk through challenges as well as finding out how people genuinely feel? This seems to make individuals grow and helps teams to thrive.
Midnight … walk home … reflect upon how Hotel Managers should be proud if they can support their teams no matter how tough shifts became.
Eat sandwich … more tablets are taken every night. Sleep. Dream. Snore.
An alarm goes off at 5:30 although they usually snooze for at least 15 more minutes …
et cetera et cetera et cetera
