Hotel Supervisors Manage Hotels

A Hotel Supervisor is a tough job that frightens people when they are entering the Hospitality Profession. But being a foreperson or one of the chiefs should not be if you are willing to work hard and you have found a place of work that suits you and of course you want to do the job.

What does surviving as a Departmental Head involve? Regardless of the Department you are a custodian within you should Listen and Ensure Confidentiality whenever needed. Everything you do as one of those Powers should help to Create a Safe Working Environment.

Supervisors are Advisors. Always be respectful, approachable and non-judgmental at work. However Hard you are working be able to talk to staff about frustrations, provide encouragement and provide constructive feedback. If the situation needs it – Command.

Provide time for people when-ever it is needed. Do not treat people like Slaves. Provide coaching and leadership skills for the department and the shifts that you work. Be personally receptive to feedback and accept responsibility for career development.

As a Boss in the Hotel - Always be respectful and appreciative. Assess any urgent issues. Carry out any administration that is asked of you. Always work as hard as is necessary – but remember there are no rewards for Dead Heroes.

As an Officer - Listen to career guidance and consider opportunities. Collaborate around the Hotel. Help build teams. Look after People. Hotel People. Hotel Guests. And Everybody else.

Simply finding “the right Hotel” is not enough – the Hotel Supervisor must make the most out of the relationship and must be prepared for just about anything as one of these Powers in the Hotel.

If any Hotel Supervisor is to be successful, even when their personality mix is right and the place of work is correct, even then, as one of the Hotel Supervisors, you must truly believe that what you are doing is valuable.

As one of these Hotel Officials - Supervising can have a profound impact on many aspects of a career. “Hotel Supervision” will have very different meanings to almost everyone, may change with time, but will probably involve continuous learning. Enjoy yourself.
