The Hotel Jacaranda - Avon Park

SPECIALIZED just wrapped up another fantastic project at the Hotel Jacaranda in Avon Park, FL. Often referred to as the Hotel Jac and the jewel of downtown, this hotel opened in 1926 and served many famous guests, including Babe Ruth, who was a regular during spring training trips. Al Capone and Clark Gable also stayed at the hotel, as well as many others who accessed the hotel via the new railroad that brought them to this popular vacation spot in Highlands County.

SPECIALIZED was trusted to restore 75 of the historic windows and other building components during the summer months, just in time to accept the college students who call this home during the school year. South Florida State College purchased the hotel in the late 1980's and today the hotel is split between serving guests and housing students who perfect their culinary skills by training in the Hotel Jacaranda's modern kitchen.
