Hot Spot Analysis with ArcGIS Pro

We've just published the latest edition of our crime analysis with ArcGIS Pro Blog Series! In this installment, Chris Delaney and I discuss some of the hot spot analysis tools available to you in ArcGIS Pro. We will focus on three specific tools that you can use to gain a better understanding of where crime is occurring in your jurisdiction:

  1. Kernel Density Tool - Kernel Density is probably the oldest method of creating hot spots in ArcGIS. We will give you some tips and tricks for getting the best results when you run this tool
  2. Minus Tool - With the Minus Tool you can visualize and compare and contrast the differences between two hot spots raster layers to understand criminal activity and how it changes over time
  3. Density-Based Clustering Tool - With this new tool you can used machine learning exploratory analysis to identify clusters of activity

These hot spot tools can be used alone or together to confirm outputs and when used with the rest of the tools in our Crime Analysis Solution, give you a complete toolset for analyzing and understanding crime.
