HOT

Fires are raging all over our state, Colorado. The heat is unbearable, mostly in the high 90s and past 100. For the first time in my life, my hair feels “stringy.” Everything I touch makes my hand spring back because of its heat. My toothpaste is melting in a puddle on my bathroom counter. I must believe that “this too shall pass.”

Unlike cavities, where although they may not give me pain, my dentist told me they cannot mysteriously be “healed.” I was thinking that the holes in my teeth would self-repair. Yet while I was at the dentist, he was, as always, informative.

He reminded me that the government (not all states, though) adds fluoride to our faucet water. And that idea sprang from a town called Manitou Springs, in Colorado. Since I don’t drink from the faucet, it doesn’t make any difference to me. Yet his explanation of the dangers of fluoride makes sense. (In the olden days, brain decline and discoloration of teeth were noticed when there was an excess of fluoride in the drinking water.) They also found out that the fluoride amount was too high for babies to drink.

So, they adjusted the amount.

My dentist always enlightens me. He explained that only a tiny bit of poison can be beneficial; think about homeopathic remedies. Just a tiny amount of the medicine motivates our bodies to heal. Too much and there can be negative repercussions.

Communication is necessary; by explaining how he is repairing my teeth, I feel confident that he is doing the right thing and I will feel so much better in the long run.

The appointment lasted 45 minutes, and then I was free. It’s simply amazing what today’s highly technological processes bring us, and I am grateful for that.

A bit of communication, an innervating process and voila! Clean, whole teeth again. Isn’t life beautiful?

It sounds like you have a good dentist! I'm one of those people who doesn't want fluoride in my body. For a long time, I've used Tom's of Maine non-fluoride toothpaste. Thanks for the informative article!
