Category Buyer- ￡30-￡45k dependent on experience

• Job Type: Full-time- permanent- 1 day working from home after probation period.

• Salary: ￡30k-￡45k per annum

Reed are looking for a Category Buyer to join our clients trading team. This role is integral in developing and implementing group buying & range strategies for a leading independent targeted market provider. The ideal candidate will be passionate about achieving the lowest net delivered cost for members and managing supplier relationships effectively.

Please note…you may or may not have buying experience for this role, we are looking for a person, great interpersonal skills, negotiation, attention to detail and fact finding are definitely required.

Day to Day of the role:

• Negotiate and manage the lowest net delivered cost for group members.
• Negotiate, manage, and maintain annual supplier terms.
• Tender all product categories in line with the group schedule.
• Review and recommend improvements to the product range and supply chain to increase turnover and profitability.
• Manage company brand products and any associated New Product Development (NPD).
• Work towards convergence of member supplier and product ranges.
• Develop promotional and category strategies with key suppliers and the marketing department.
• Identify supply problems or issues, ensuring sub-standard suppliers are managed appropriately.
• Improve supplier contributions and advertising monies in line with group policies.
• Maintain accurate supplier, product, pricing, and promotional details within the group intranet system.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key personnel from member companies and supplier businesses.
• Travel and overnight stays when visiting suppliers and members.
• Provide regular updates to the management team on activities, including financial and budgetary matters.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years commercial experience.
• CIPS qualification would be advantageous but not essential.
• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Strong negotiation and management skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a diverse team.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
