A hot new dishy from Rishi
In a speech on Monday 9 November Rishi Sunak described a “new chapter for financial services” post-Brexit.
Some key points are:
· granting equivalence to EU and the EEA on financial services
· launching Britain’s first “green gilt”
· reviewing the listing regime to attract tech companies to London.
· introducing a new regulatory approach to stablecoin initiatives
· making plans for central banks to issue their own digital currencies.
The Chancellor explicitly stated that the UK would remain an “open, attractive international financial centre” at the end of the Brexit transition period on 1 January 2021.
