Hot List And A(nother) Heat Wave

Hot List And A(nother) Heat Wave

“There's a golden rule. Mind your own damn business”- Tim Walz

More summer madness; the week started with talk of a recession, heat waves, a hurricane and tornados. It included layoffs for our friends at Paramount and a $6 billion TV asset write down, Linda/Musk trying to sue brands into submission, Google found guilty of antitrust and terrible news of a shut down for our colleagues at B&C and Multichannel News.

Those yings were met with yangs from our friends at Trade Desk, Roku, Magnite and VIZIO— all of which posted Q2 revenue figures going up and to the right. That growth is (ironically) fueled in part by studios and programmers who realize the best way to big audiences these days is through programmatic engines, the gates of attention held by TV makers and the data + software that knows what you want before you do.

VIZIO’s social post on earnings says it all: on the left, continued growth and on the right, a reminder of who decides what millions of people see when the TV turns on. [For more on the importance of the TV OS, check out our latest repor t, with more to come on the OS topic this fall.]

More about all of that later: this week on TVREV we have some humdingers!!
