Hot Jobseeker tips for 2022
I’ve been in the recruitment game for 22 years now and having seen plenty of peaks and troughs over the years I predict that 2022 will be a doozy. After more than two years living under the dark spectre of COVID which has seen a real squeeze on available resources, we will see restrictions in WA start to ease and borders begin to open again.
The perfect pandemic storm of the last two years which has seen border closures paired with a buoyant infrastructure market in NSW and Queensland has meant WA recruiters have really had to earn their stipes. More jobs and less candidates has been a real boon for the prospective job seeker.
But all good things must come to an end and I think we’ll see more of a balance in the coming year or two between jobseekers and open roles. This means candidates should start thinking about what they need to be doing in order to stand out from the pack
How to stand out
Georgiou is a robot and applicant tracking system
Georgiou highly values diversity in our workforce so to some extent we ?implement a level of blind recruiting, where we don’t look at criteria such as gender, age, photo or location – it’s all about experience and culture-fit. Each time you apply for a position – regardless if it’s at Georgiou or elsewhere – tailor your CV
What are we looking for?
As a 40+ year old family business culture is king! We hire for culture-fit and alignment to our values. If your CV fits the role and you have the opportunity to interview, we want someone who has done their research, shows a genuine interest in the job opportunity and asks questions about the business, project and culture prior to remuneration. If you want to work for a growing, mid-tier construction company that is delivering some of the most complex and exciting building, engineering and infrastructure projects in Australia, then you’ve come to the right place and we’d love to talk to you!

Where to from here? -?A look at the next 12 months.
Whilst I believe we will see a slightly more balanced job market in 2022, I still see it remaining a competitive environment with some uncertainty from the job seeker when it comes to job security. What does this mean?
A reluctance to move for other opportunities. But what we know for sure is that the pandemic has changed the way everyone works and mostly for the better, the drawcard is now:
The paradigm has shifted and with it, we expect to continue changing the way we do business, so our people have the flexibility to do their jobs in a way that suits them. It not only ensures productivity and greater morale due to trust, but it promotes excellence.
My advice to potential employees
Don’t let the pandemic hold you back from looking at new opportunities. Get a great CV together, tailor it to the role and the business you’re applying for, do your research on the business and treat your interview like a first date – it’s just as much about you impressing us as it is about us impressing you. Be prepared, ask questions, and think about what you’re really looking for in a new employer. We think you’ll love what you find here!
