Maybe you’re thinking about how you can do this...?
Everybody knows the power of building a list, right??
Let's talk about leveraging the power of lists and how you build a list.
If you're brand new to list building or have a list of thousands, hosting an educational and valuable LinkedIn Live will help you get in front of more people easily.
First, plan on getting together 10-20 experts speak on a variety of topics that are in your wheelhouse.
We decided we would prepare 3 days of live training, at 2 hours each day.
Each day we would start with an introduction of the live talk and present the speakers of the day. Each speaker would have 15 minutes to speak on their topic with 5 minutes in between for debrief/recaps and to introduce the next speaker.
Total 4 speakers a day to maintain 2 hours for the live event.
So now that you have your line up, how do you let people know about your event?
The virtual event was?completely free, a free ticket.?
Once viewers registered with their email address on the event website, they got the opportunity to buy the recordings for $49 - a one-time-fee to keep the recordings forever.?That's how you can monetize the free ticket.
Here's how we marketed it.
First, we already had an email list and other interested people from our partners.?
And so we sent out emails messages to our various lists.
The main way you will want to market is by creating content for the speakers post. This makes promotion on LinkedIn a breeze! All they had to do was copy/paste details about the event on their profile.

Have a goal in mind, too. Our goal was to get about 1,000 people to register. And we actually met that!
Not all of our speakers had an email list to market to, so that's why creating graphics and content for them to easily promote on their social accounts was a no-brainer.
Different ways we promoted the virtual event:
We asked all the speakers to promote to their LinkedIn accounts by using the content provided, plus a custom event hashtags.
People could then look up a certain keyword and find out about posts, articles and events surrounding that topic.
Timing is key! Our speakers had a lot of people show up when they were live on LinkedIn. They notified?their audience so they could show up?right then?to hear their talk.
What do you do after the event?
After the live event each day, we downloaded the event livestream and uploaded it to our event website.
We had emails that said something along the lines of, "Hey! Today's session was great. Make sure you get the recordings." With a link to access the recordings. The recordings would only be free and live during the event days, so if they wanted to have them for longer, to go back to at anytime, we had a link to purchase the recordings for $49.
Another thing we did was…. prize giveaways!
We gave away courses, some of our own, some from the speakers and travel vouchers to make it more fun and interactive.?
So if you do a live event.. definitely have prizes! This creates a thrill of winning.?
Live events are not only a great way to build the list, but also to make money from that list.?
Think about what topics you'd want to see on a digital event and host your own event with experts in that arena. Would love to hear feedback about your event process... Let us know if this was helpful to you.
