In the next 2 years, Macau will have a total of 114 hotels with almost 10.000 new rooms. The overall number of available rooms will reach approximately 42,000 by the end of 2017, representing an increase of 24% of the actual capacity.
With this new supply of hotels, Macau Hotel Occupancy rate will have to readjust until Macau Government completes the large scale transport infrastructure projects, currently under construction.
The rise of Millenials and decrease in occupancy rates forces the Hospitality sector to redefine their pricing strategy of their goods and services, when promoting their offering to visitors.
The number of attractions offered by each hotel property will be key to attract more visitors and make them to stay longer. Diversification towards non-gaming activities such as entertainment, culinary, heritage, will gain more relevance.
Hotels will have to move towards innovation and technology in order to connect with Millennials that are constantly connected online. New set of products and services need to be explored and distributed via innovative platforms.
