What is the first thing a guest will do when they enter their hotel room?
Turn on the LIGHT.
Small details make a big difference in the guest experience, such as lighting, the availability of state-of-the-art socket outlets and USB ports from the range of FEDE the SWITCH and LIGHT tailor , presented at this event.
The electrical and lighting control mechanisms do not go unnoticed. Luminaires are intimately linked to their switch-on, which is why we created the SWITCH & LIGHT concept from the very beginning .
Lighting is part of our EXPERIENCE, when we arrive at a HOTEL, transforming each SPACE. In other words, no space is THE SAME if you change the lighting. As easy to understand at its limit, as being in the dark or not.? Between these two extremes, there are endless programmable scenes to adapt the lighting to each situation. And what will be of most interest to investors in hotel projects, to monetize.
The selection therefore involves much more than simply choosing high-end accessories; it encompasses the entire ambience and atmosphere of a space, i.e. it goes beyond choosing a SWITCH or a LUMINAIRE. Both elements must be aimed at ensuring that the guest enjoys their stay without disturbing them at any time. Illumination, after all, is an Art, as our latest catalogue is titled: "The Art of Lighting".
We can exemplify a disturbance such as the home automation system in a console that I found in a luxury hotel in Japan, after almost 20 hours of travel, including an endless connection in Singapore. You arrive at the hotel at night, exhausted, and it turns out you need an instruction manual to turn on the light. You go to bed tired and think tomorrow will be another day and maybe I'll read it or call the front desk, while you go to the bathroom in the dark.?
Without going any further, on my last trip to Madrid, in a well-known luxury hotel chain, the card did not fit in the card holder of the Hotel but you put it in a strange inclined position. I will omit the name of the Italian brand of mechanisms which, in addition to the characteristics of its system, would force the construction company and the installer of this project to change all the standard boxes for the Italian three-module one, with the cost and difficulty that it implies.
In a 5-star coastal resort hotel in Portugal, I found plastic light switches from different manufacturers, mixed and placed without rhyme or reason, creating an aesthetic that could only have been decided by the head of Maintenance, notably detracting from the aesthetics of the room.
Is all this Luxury?
No, of course not. Luxury is something else, an experience in which everything works correctly and intuitively and there are no disturbances or discomforts, including a curated aesthetic.
On May 16th, coinciding with the International Day of Light, which commemorates the fundamental importance of light in our lives, five leading architects and interior designers:

They shared their experiences and projects at TALKS that MATTER: "Hotels, Lighting and Comfort", an event organized by Matter and sponsored by FEDE the SWITCH and LIGHT tailor . In which the following also participated as speakers:
Dolors Vila , great expert and professor of Masters in Lighting who shared her exceptional knowledge and MONICA GRAU LORENZ , Creative Director and CEO of FEDE the SWITCH and LIGHT tailor who highlighted the participation in emblematic national and international hotel projects of the firm.
In any project and even more so if you are a hotelier, we recommend having a LIGHTING DESIGNER, specialized in creating tailor-made luxury lighting experiences, to optimize the DESIGN and the USER EXPERIENCE.
Of course, in collaboration with Architects and Interior Designers to ensure that the lighting complements the décor and overall architecture of the space.
During the talk, some of the most successful collaborations in this field were presented. In fact, the organizer, Matter , had to hang the "FULL" sign? several days before the event, as the topic aroused a lot of interest and for this reason, we have decided to make this post to share the highlights.
