The Horticultural Education of our youth

Have you stopped and thought about where our society, as a whole, is headed? I don't have a problem with technology, okay, maybe a little bit. Self-driving cars and Alexa freak me out a little bit.

We are teaching and pushing technology so hard, and in the process making our society lazy, that many basic principals are being lost. Take for instance, where our food comes from.

You would be amazed at how many children do not know that apples come from trees. Many, when asked, will tell you the name of their favorite grocery store is where they come from. Granted, there are many that do know, but I have seen this with my own eyes. 

Is it possible I am only dealing with a small percent and this is NOT happening in the rest of the country? I am in Charleston, South Carolina and would LOVE to hear if you are seeing this problem in your corner of the world.

I am working on a bunch of children's plant books, for all different ages. Your feedback would be very beneficial to my writings.
