Horn Not Ok please (Learning, Unlearning and Relearning) :

Horn Not Ok please - Signboard written on the backside of a truck caught my attention. Isn't it strange how the focus is getting shifted from pressing the horn (from so many decades) to saying No to noise pollution. This is similar to the famous toothpaste advertisement which has changed focus from No salt to having salt in its product suddenly.

It seems such paradigm shift is common in our life too, but may get unnoticed sometimes. When we try to learn something new, we may have to unlearn certain things, assumptions, theories and then learn the new concept and skills. For example, you want to learn driving a car without gear; whereas your entire life has gone into driving a car with gear. Firstly you need to forget/unlearn that changing gears, pressing clutch is no longer required while acquiring this new skill and then learn the skill of driving a gearless vehicle.

It again emphasizes the importance of constant learning. What was hot yesterday, is irrelevant today and obsolete tomorrow. The skill to unlearn things quickly to absorb the new knowledge is also very much vital. Same applies to our thoughts, opinions and beliefs in this constantly changing world. Be ready to witness and adapt to the next Game Changer.
