The Horizontal Integration of Your Business + Vertical Integration of Your Life

?? ?? ???????? ???????????????? ???? ????????????… ??

In this talk, we'll explore how the three "insanities" of business, family, and personal growth intersect at the center, forming an axis of horizontal and vertical integration. On the horizontal plane, we'll examine the left side of the axis, which represents the plan for the business: strategy, talent, and culture. On the right side, we'll discuss the production of the business: processes, execution, marketing, and sales. On the vertical plane, we'll consider the connection between the individual and their business, and how personal growth can fuel the success of the business. By understanding and balancing these two axes, we can bring the "trifecta of insanity" into focus and achieve our goals as entrepreneurs and business owners.

The "plan" section of the horizontal axis represents the foundation of the business. It includes the strategy, talent, and culture needed to move the business forward and achieve its goals.

The strategy is the overall plan for how the business will achieve its objectives. It includes the specific actions and tactics that will be taken to reach those goals.

Talent refers to the people who will be implementing the strategy and driving the business forward. It's important to have the right mix of skills and experience on the team in order to execute the plan effectively.

Culture refers to the values, behaviors, and practices that shape the work environment and influence how people interact with each other and with customers. A positive and supportive culture can foster collaboration, innovation, and productivity.

By building a solid foundation with a well-defined plan, the right talent, and a supportive culture, a business can set itself up for success.

The "production" section of the horizontal axis represents the practical execution of the business plan. It includes the processes, execution, marketing, and sales needed to turn the plan into reality and produce results.

Processes refer to the systems and procedures that are put in place to guide the day-to-day operations of the business. These processes help ensure that work is completed efficiently and effectively.

Execution refers to the ability to carry out the plan and turn ideas into action. This includes having a clear understanding of the tasks that need to be completed and the resources required to do so, as well as the discipline and focus to follow through on those tasks.

Marketing is the process of promoting and selling the products or services offered by the business. It includes strategies for reaching and engaging potential customers, as well as converting leads into paying customers.

Sales refers to the process of finalizing transactions with customers and securing revenue for the business. This includes negotiating prices, closing deals, and managing customer relationships.

Together, these elements of production help a business turn its plan into tangible results, including revenue and cash flow.

The vertical plane refers to the connection between the individual and their business. It represents the personal growth and development of the individual, and how it impacts the success of the business.

On the vertical plane, the focus is on the individual's goals and aspirations, as well as their personal growth and development. This includes things like self-awareness, self-management, and personal development. By prioritizing personal growth and development, the individual can bring new skills, knowledge, and perspective to their role in the business, which can help drive its success.

At the same time, the success of the business can also support and facilitate the personal growth of the individual. For example, the challenges and opportunities that come with running a business can provide valuable learning experiences and help the individual grow as a leader and a person.

Overall, the vertical plane represents the dynamic relationship between the individual and their business, and how they can support and enrich each other.

In conclusion, the trifecta of insanity – business, family, and personal growth – intersect at the center, forming an axis of horizontal and vertical integration. By understanding and balancing these two axes, we can bring the challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship and business ownership into focus and achieve our goals.

On the horizontal plane, we examined the left side of the axis, which represents the plan for the business: strategy, talent, and culture. On the right side, we discussed the production of the business: processes, execution, marketing, and sales. On the vertical plane, we considered the connection between the individual and their business, and how personal growth can fuel the success of the business.

By building a solid foundation with a well-defined plan, the right talent, and a supportive culture, and by effectively executing on that plan through strong processes, execution, marketing, and sales, we can achieve success in our businesses and in our personal lives.
