Horizontal-Axis Wind Turbines are the Past
The traditional wind turbines, horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWTs), that we have been putting up are not the most efficient design.
This is a horizontal-axis wind turbine, this design is outdated:
Extensive computer simulations have shown that vertical-axis wind turbines are more efficient.
This is a vertical-axis wind turbine, this design is the future:
Not only that where traditional HAWTs cause turbulence that degrade the performance of other HAWTs in their wake, VAWTs actually increase the performance of other VAWTs in their wake. This is awesome. Not only that, the drawback of bird kills is basically eliminated with many VAWT designs.
