I trust you are well.
Fault notification affecting VoIP smart phone apps...plus a few other observations regarding home working, Virgin Media faults and SKY Q wireless issues
We are aware that, unfortunately, GAMMA have a problem at the moment with their iOS (Apple) Smart Phone Applications on their Horizon VoIP Phone System - so if you are experiencing problems with your app, please accept our apologies. It is being worked on as a priority.
If you have access to a PC or MAC smartphone, these are unaffected so please use those apps (or a handset) as an alternative. Or you can forward calls to your mobile number of course...
PC, Mac or Android softphone apps are unaffected.
This is unusal - we cannot remember the last time there was an issue so apologies.
Also, as more and more customers move their users to home working environments, we are finding more and more instances of people working at home with old BT home hubs or older routers. Unfortunately, some of these devices have settings in them that restrict the use of VoIP and they cannot be re-programmed.
In this instance, the only option is to use a 4G smart phone app (iOS problems notwithstanding) or change the router for one that does not have this restriction. If you would like some ore advice on this, please contact us.
We are also aware that, just to compound issues, VIRGIN MEDIA have had major network problems recently. This may affect people with Virgin broadbands and/or mobile phones. This is completely unrelated to the above.
Lastly, we have recently come across issues with SKY Q installations and home working meshed WI-FI connections. SKY Q boxes basically act as Wi-Fi access points which can interfere with your home Wi-Fi network. Unfortunately, we have found SKY engineers are not suitably technically qualified to diagnose and resolve these issues. As a result, SKY Q boxes should always have a hard wired connection and have their wireless capabilities turned off. A bit unfit for purpose really....
