Iceland is famous for its stunning landscapes and remarkable geography, but did you know that Reykjavik is in the midst of an air quality emergency, having already exceeded all health protection limits for 2023… in a single weekend

This crisis is far from unique to Iceland, so we’re working with change-makers, communities and local authorities all over the world to provide a service that enables everyone access and opportunity to escape dependancy on environmentally harmful means of transport.?

Since day one, hopp has actively made sure that all parts of the business are carbon negative. Focus is placed on re-use, to reduce waste in all our operations. Nothing in our workshops that can be fixed is ever thrown away and we share learnings with our manufacturer to build more sustainable, durable and longer lasting scooters to this effect. We’re also now designing our own spare parts here in Iceland to cut the carbon footprint of transport between countries.

We want to to be a catalyst for change and facilitate a car free lifestyle without impacting mobility and we’re doing so by engaging with smaller locations where public transport is not as strong as in larger cities. With 375,000 regular users accessing our best in class app (designed and programmed here in Iceland) there are now more hoppers globally than there are Icelanders!?

2022 saw us launch hopp fleets locally in ísafj?reur, Húsavík, H?fn and Vík, as well as establishing ourselves globally in Poland, Greece, Norway, Sweden and Italy, with more countries around the world planning a 2023 roll out.?

This is in part due to increased funding from NEFCO (The Nordic Environment Finance Corporation) which has enabled us to overcome prohibitive set-up costs by offering investment and finance solutions to entrepreneurs wishing to establish a fleet.?

2023 will be a milestone year for hopp as we launch other clean energy vehicles within the app, making electric cars and cargo vehicles available to users in addition to our scooters, to further reduce the need for privately owned vehicles.
