Hope’s Story
Hope is a normal happy 7 year old girl who loves nothing more than to play and have fun with her friends. She has 3 brothers and is the beloved daughter of close friends of ours.
On Saturday January 2nd, Hope and her family’s world changed forever. She was diagnosed with a brain tumour, which would need surgery, radiotherapy and then chemotherapy to treat. On January 8th, she endured 7 hours in theatre where they resected the tumour. This was followed by further minor surgeries and after a brief period of, ‘recovery’ 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy. She is currently at the start of 8 months of chemotherapy, she has been largely unable to eat herself and has to be fed artificially through a feeding tube. She is totally dependent on anti-sickness medication in order to combat the constant nausea she experiences, which is a result of the diagnosis, radiotherapy and chemotherapy combined.
For Hope the hardest part of her whole journey has been the effect this has had on her ability to lead a normal life. She is rarely well enough to attend school, which means she rarely sees her friends. She has so little stamina, she hardly gets to play outside on her scooter or go for walks with her dog. For the time being at least, Hope’s life is almost unrecognisable from what it was 6 months ago……….
We will all be raising money for hope and the family so they can enjoy a family holiday next year when hopes finished her treatment.
