HOPE secures federal Communities Environment Program (CEP) grant
Householders’ Options to Protect the Environment (HOPE) Inc. is excited to share our big announcement.
We’ve received funding from the Australian Government’s Communities Environment Program for the management of the Endangered, Vulnerable, and Near Threatened (EVNT) fauna in the Upper Condamine catchment.
With assistance from government databases, landholders, and consultancy from CROSSROADS Rural & Environment; we’re developing an innovative approach for landholders to manage EVNT fauna on their properties. The project will monitor six native species and their habitats and develop species management plans. This will ensure landholders have the skills and knowledge to improve vegetation and protect at-risk flora and fauna.
It’s been a long road pulling this together, but well worth it. The project will commence this month and will be completed by year’s end. Also, we’re looking to negate the need for on-ground funding and instead work directly with landholders to ensure the ongoing survival of EVNT species and the protection of their habitat.
Stay tuned for updates on our progress as we work with landholders using this innovative approach to manage their natural resources and EVNT fauna in the Upper Condamine catchment.
