Books expand our knowledge and imagination and for underprivileged child, they are a treasure trunk that changes their world.

Coming from a family where they are the first generation of school-goers, books are their only friends that help them practice language and give them the confidence to read and write. Regular reading helps them in exercising what they learn in school for a good hold on their language.

Books also motivate the family members of underserved children. They give the parents the courage and assurance to go on as they feel a sense of pride seeing a book in the hands of their children. They give them hope for a better future for their children.

The stories of real-life heroes inspire the children and give them courage and motivation to fight their way out of their current situation and work towards a better tomorrow. They open the doors to a whole new world, a world that is new to the children, a world that they have seen from far and wish to be a part of.

At Lotus Petal Foundation, books play a significant role in creating a bonding between our students and the volunteers. Our storytelling sessions are a favorite with the students where volunteers read books and discuss stories. Students immensely enjoy these sessions as they listen to new stories with great amazement and ask questions to quench their curiosity on varied topics.

Our school library is full of books donated to us by our supporters. We have both fiction and non-fiction books for all age groups and encourage our students to use them to the most. The surplus books that we receive are donated to government schools to help them build their school libraries.

Books are friends for life and, to keep this friendship intact, we make every effort to ensure no child in the underserved community has to give up on his right to education.
