Hope is a muscle.

Where there is no hope, there is no positive action forward.
When we lose hope in ourselves, our work, or our society--
we shrink.
we harden.
we disengage.
we stop focusing on solutions and we amplify the problems.
It's a place of feeling like we've lost all grounds for the change we want to see.
When we lose hope, we forget that each of us houses a well of possibility.
And we can't have that.
I want you to remember the world doesn't stop.
And your world shouldn't stop either.
This is not an invitation to oversimplify big issues, real fear, or heavy emotions--
no toxic positivity needed.
But we do need to remember:
hope is a muscle and it's also a practice.
So how do we activate hope in order to move forward, ground ourselves in possibility and create more solutions?
We acknowledge the reality of what is and we sit with it.
We get curious and create curiosity in others.

We create space to be and let joy come back in.
We connect with other's who fill our cup and then pour back out to those who need us.
And we always remember the only way out is through.
Because hope is a muscle.
So build it, bit by bit every day.
If ever you feel that light dim, remember that every experience you live was hoped on and then executed by someone.
Practice activating hope.
And then practice activating what you hope for.
We keep moving,
Tiffany

3 个月Yes!! Hope is a muscle Tiffany Lanier!! Here's a quote from Brene Brown's book The Gifts of Imperfection that aligns with what you're sharing. "hope is not an emotion; it’s a way of thinking or a cognitive process. Emotions play a supporting role, but hope is really a thought process made up of what Snyder calls a trilogy of goals, pathways, and agency. In very simple terms, hope happens when: ? We have the ability to set realistic goals (I know where I want to go). ? We are able to figure out how to achieve those goals, including the ability to stay flexible and develop alternative routes (I know how to get there, I’m persistent, and I can tolerate disappointment and try again). ? We believe in ourselves (I can do this!).”
