HOPE

Isn’t it incredible and beautiful what words can do? How words can lift you up and hit you right in the heart to fill it with joy and faith and above all; hope.

Hope is something we always need, but now we need it more than ever. In these times full of uncertainties, of physical distance, now when we are finding it hard to understand what’s going on, to understand one another, to understand the world, we all could do with a flicker of hope.

And yet it’s as simple as that, only a couple of words spoken and there it is. Words so carefully selected and put together, and so fiercely and elegantly delivered by this beautiful and strong woman. Her words literally sparkled and shone just like her face.

Yes, I’m referring to the by now world-famous poem “The Hill We Climb” that was presented by Amanda Gorman during the inauguration of President Joe Biden.

Her words, together with the inauguration itself and the speech of the new President of the United States of America, definitely brought hope to my heart. It made it beat a bit faster, a bit louder. And it made me feel oh so very much alive.

It gave me an enormous urge to be part of the bigger plan, to go out and do good and to help making this world a better place, a friendlier, more united and brighter place.

Here we are, a whole new year ahead of us. Yes, we carry with us the shade from the past. But that shade too adds something to our lives, and over anything, it makes us so much more aware and appreciative of the light, which is right here for us, without any doubt.

It’s simply up to us, as Amanda said so well in the last words of her encouraging poem.

So yes! Let’s be brave enough to See it, let’s be brave enough to Be it, and let’s be brave enough to Share it!
