Elon Musk says being an entrepreneur is like eating glass and staring into the abyss of death.

This is true. But it’s also like driving your Jeep down the beach with the doors off one leg hanging out while going commando.?

About ten months ago I left the large agency world (the only world I ever knew) to become partner in a place very much less large.?While I fully admit that there has been a whole helluva list of circumstances for which I was not prepared, it is precisely what I had hoped it would be.?

For every ounce of terror there’s a pound of exuberance.

For each moment of discomfort there’s one of exhilaration.

By some grace, the emotional heft of the unknown is lighter than the lift of self-determination.

It’s like aviation.

A 747 weighs a million pounds, but if you get the air moving faster over the top of the wing than the bottom, the physics works. And next thing you know you’re moving 600 miles an hour toward an abundant horizon.

So, as we today celebrate the third anniversary of our less large company, I am pleased to report that we’ve got a team that is building speed with all the talent necessary for takeoff.

The runway is ours.

And there’s hope in the abyss.
