Hop Aboard - Meet Lucy Byrne, our Talent + People Partner
Welcome to our first instalment of Hop Aboard, our new series of posts showcasing our lovely Seatfrog team.
In Hop Aboard, we’ll be interviewing a member of the Seatfrog team, getting to know the faces behind the company and learning a little bit about what they do, who they are and how they spend their Fridays off (yes, in case you didn’t know, we work a four-day week here at Seatfrog).
First up is Lucy Byrne , our wonderful Talent & People Partner. Get to meet her with her answers below!
Who are you and what do you do at Seatfrog?
I'm the Talent + People Partner here. I spend most of my time recruiting and onboarding Seatfrog's amazingly talented employees, and the rest of my time is spent contributing to the great People strategy we have here.
Why did you want to join Seatfrog?
I knew the Head of People, Alex Slater , in a previous life and I really wanted the opportunity to work with her. They say people follow great managers! I also really love working in startup, and when you believe in the mission and product it's a no brainer. Rail travel in is ripe for disruption and it's really exciting to be a part of revolutionising how the public experience travel.

What’s your favourite thing about working here?
We have autonomy to just get s*** done in a way that plays to our strengths. We're all recognised as individuals with different ideas, needs, and visions and we're empowered to own that individualism and deliver. I feel I can really be myself here.
What's the best place you've been to on a train?
In 2013 I had a bit of a rubbish experience on public transport that left me really anxious, so I didn't travel on trains for years! In August this year, I got on a tube for the first time in over ten years and that was an absolutely massive achievement for me! I was actually going to the office to meet my team in person for the first time, so both the destination and the journey of overcoming a fear definitely made this my most memorable journey for sure. Working at Seatfrog has definitely pushed me to overcome some personal goals, and now I love getting the train - especially when I win that upgrade!
How do you spend your Friday off?
I spend my time training - I'll do boxing and some sparring, and spend the rest of the day with my amazing daughter, Aster. The other week I took Aster on a train for the first time ever! That was a super special moment for us, we definitely created a core memory. Some Fridays I spend completely alone to take a breather from life. That's the great thing about a four day week - you get a whole day back each week to do what you need to do, for you, and I love every version of my Fridays.
