Hooks
I was talking to a client the other night, and they mentioned that they have been drinking a little more than usual. While this is not uncommon, many are not aware when there is an up tick in unhealthy behaviors. What was good about that particular conversation, they did indeed know. Further more, we will make adjustments. Because "hooks" can bring us down.
Hooks. Ah yes. We've all been there. It usually happens when things are off, chaotic or in some cases the winter months. We start engaging in unhealthy eating habits. Or, we may have that extra glass of wine. In some cases, some of us even dabble in a little recreational drug use. But whatever we are doing, if we are not mindful, those vices get their hooks into us. And then we're in trouble.
I'm not talking about some comfort food, or a night out on the town and having too much to drink. I am talking about a conscious decision to participate in unhealthy behaviors. And it usually starts out with an internal conversation saying things like, "I deserve this drink." And while in fact you may, doing it too often, leads to those hooks.?
So what are we talking about here? We are talking about knowing and engaging in unhealthy behavior willingly. I'm a firm believer in taking control on ones own fate. There is always, always something you can do to improve the quality of your life. Bad days are inevitable. Bad attitudes are a choice. Know the difference between comfort and destructive. If you're unsure, it's probably destructive.?

Hooks. They're out there. And if you're aware, they will not be problematic. And the time to be most aware is when we're swimming up stream. So when you're caught in a downpour, let the flow take you. Because when we fight it, in many cases we will get hooked.?
