The Hook Story warm up- Mike Ulm

The Hook Story warm up- Mike Ulm

The hook story exercise is a great warm up for either strategic leadership meetings or a conversation about customer service with your team. It applies to everyone.

Simply, bring people back to the moment when they knew they were “hooked” on working in your industry or the job they currently have. In senior housing, we often call our career passion a “calling”, but often it began with a story. “When did you know you were hooked on working with seniors?”. You can change the underlined subject to relate it to your industry or make it more specific to the group your talking to.

Having your team share these stories is a perfect tee-up for most strategic or customer service agendas. You will have a host of examples to refer to from the stories, and you will have already engage your team because you let them talk first. Be prepared to being your own hook story, if you don’t have one, that’s another story……..  Hope this helps, happy listening.
